Hi, I'm Julie

Once upon a time (or more like 2010), I was an adoptive mom of one, hoping to adopt again. Facing the reality of cost and the possibility of not being chosen again, I started brainstorming ideas to help. From that brainstorm, I started "Project Family Photo." Using my skills as a graphic designer and hobby photographer, I started taking family photos by donation to raise money and also to network within the community to share that we were hoping to adopt.
As I took more photos, I realized I really enjoyed it and had an eye for it, helped by my degree in art and design. After successfully adopting again, I decided to start taking portraits as a business and Julie Smith Photo was born. I have been taking pictures ever since. In 2019, and two more adoptions later, we made the move from Yuma, Arizona back to my husband's hometown in Ferndale, WA. It was a welcome change to be back on the farm, back in Washington, back to seasons and rain and green!
Now, on the rainy days I do art (see the link to my art in the menu if you're interested!) and on the not so rainy days I take pictures. I'd love to take some pictures for you! Hit the contact link, give me a call or shoot me a text to get started!

Let’s work together
